Expressing hope that the leaders of Europe would understand the ground realities and prevailing conditions in Pakistan, President Pervez Musharraf today said that the West must realize that his country is its trustworthy ally.

Brussels, Jan 21 : Expressing hope that the leaders of Europe would understand the ground realities and prevailing conditions in Pakistan, President Pervez Musharraf today said that the West must realize that his country is its trustworthy ally.

"I admit Pakistan underwent some serious commotions during the last year," said Musahrraf, adding, "However I assure you that Pakistan's nuclear assets are totally secure and not even an atomic attack could affect them."

He ruled out the possibility of these assets to fall into wrong hands.

"We are determined to hold free, fair and transparent elections, and peaceful elections ... There is no possibility of it being rigged,"The News quoted Musharraf as saying.

He said whichever party emerges victorious power will obviously be handed over to it.

Commenting on media reports that the US might take unilateral actions the tribal areas of Pakistan, Musharraf said: "Only Pakistan's own forces will take such action."

He underlined the need for resolution of political issues of the Muslims to overcome the menace of terrorism.
