London, Jan 16 : The dreaded terrorist group al-Qaeda is reportedly setting up its branch in Britain, claims an Islamic website.
The website, www.alekhlaas.net, has declared that it want to create "the al Qaeda organisation in Britain". The British intelligence is said to be investigating into the matter.
"You don't ignore this sort of thing," Pauline Neville-Jones, the former head of the British joint intelligence committee told the BBC.
"It may not be a threat from an existing cell... but it does represent a move in the propaganda game and the propaganda game is not something we should ignore," he added.
Neville-Jones also pointed out that it a struggle over ideology.
According to the Mirror, the website has urged young Muslim men to fight against "infidels" such as "Brown and Blair".
It would be pertinent to mention here that in 2005, suicide bombers killed 52 people in London and in June last year two men attempted to blow up a car outside a London club and two terrorists firebombed Glasgow airport.
