Nawaz calls for closure of ISIs political wing

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) is a product of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and called for an end to the agencys political wing.

Lahore, Jan 12 : Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) is a product of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and called for an end to the agency's political wing.

"No democratic person could welcome an army coup, the ISI might have been involved in the distribution of sweets upon the dismissal of his government in 1999. The country's premier was answerable to the people and not to the army chief," the Daily Times quoted Nawaz as saying.

He said the wars fought by Pakistan erupted during military rules, whereas democratic governments had ensured the development of the country.
