Princess Diana was convinced that she was going to be bumped off by MI6 because of her impressive fight against landmines, the inquest into her death has heard.

London, Jan 11 : Princess Diana was convinced that she was going to be "bumped off" by MI6 because of her impressive fight against landmines, the inquest into her death has heard.

Simone Simmons, Diana's close friend, told the London hearing that the Princess was about to "name names" and publish a dossier called Profiting Out of Misery."Top of her list of culprits was the Secret Intelligence Service which she believed was behind the sale of British landmines that were causing so much misery to so many people," the Telegraph quoted Simmons, as saying.

She added that at one time, Diana sent her a note saying, "If something happens, MI5 or MI6 will have done it."

Simmons revealed that the Princess gave her the landmines dossier, which she kept it for several months under her mattress along with the note. However, later she burned them.

"I was more than nervous. If I had the material, I might have been bumped off as well," she said.

Simmons also revealed that Diana asked her to listen to a phone call in February 1997, wherein the Princess was being threatened over the landmine campaign.

"This person was saying to her that she shouldn't interfere in matters she knew nothing about," she said.

The caller told the Princess "Well accidents can happen" and she was "very pale" after the conversation.

Simmons said the Princess told her the caller was Conservative MP Nicholas Soames.

Soames has already told the inquest that he had never made a threatening phone call to her or ever discussed the landmines issue with her, adding that "it's a really grotesque suggestion."

Simmons, who claims to be an "energy healer", revealed that in November 1996 she had an intuition the Princess would be one of four people in an accident in a Mercedes.

And when she told this to Diana, she replied: "Oh my God, Charles".
