Pakistans Caretaker PM Mohammadmian Soomro has appointed Amar Lal as his Special Adviser to monitor the process of maintenance, upgradation and co-ordination of work regarding temples in Pakistan, an official at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi confirmed.
Islamabad, Jan 10 : Pakistan's Caretaker PM Mohammadmian Soomro has appointed Amar Lal as his Special Adviser to "monitor the process of maintenance, upgradation and co-ordination of work regarding temples in Pakistan", an official at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi confirmed.
According to him, Amar Lal will be assigned the rank of Federal Minister in the Pakistan Government to carry out his functions.
Clarifying that a section of Pakistani press had erroneously reported that Lal has been appointed to monitor the registration and reforms of madarrasas in the country, the official said that Lal was actually appointed to look into the matters related to maintenance, up-gradation and co-ordination of temples situated in Pakistan.
Today's Daily Times edition had Pakistan's Religious Affairs Secretary Wakil Ahmad Khan as feigning ignorance on Amar Lal's appointment. "It's not in my knowledge that anyone has been appointed as special adviser to monitor registration of madrassas," he was quoted as saying.
He also said that he had also not yet received any letter from Amar Lal asking to arrange a briefing about registration of madarrasas.
