EU welcomes Govt-UDMF agreement

The European Union Heads of Missions in Kathmandu have welcomed the agreement reached between the government and the United Democratic Madhesi Front.

Kathmandu, Feb.29 : The European Union Heads of Missions in Kathmandu have welcomed the agreement reached between the government and the United Democratic Madhesi Front.

In a statement, the French embassy, the local presidency of the EU, said, "This agreement offers the opportunity to hold inclusive, credible, free and fair elections throughout Nepal, including in the Terai region."

According to nepalnews, the EU said it expects all parties to work together towards this including by fully implementing their commitments under this agreement and working to deliver a safe environment for elections.

The EU said, "This is time for the elections. The Nepali people want to express their will through the ballot box," reaffirming the importance of holding credible CA elections on the scheduled date.
