The Pakistani Navy chief on Wednesday said that the launch of nuclear-capable submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) by India will trigger a new arms race in the region.
Karachi, Feb 27 : The Pakistani Navy chief on Wednesday said that the launch of nuclear-capable submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) by India will trigger a new arms race in the region.
"These developments...put nuclear weapons at sea and it is a very, very serious issue," Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir told reporters.
"This is going to start a new arms race in the region," the Dawn quoted him, as saying.
India on Tuesday test-fired the country's first ever SLBM, codenamed K-15.
The test was conducted from a submerged pontoon off the coast of Vishakhapatnam. The test marked the first step towards converting the missile into a militarily usable nuclear weapon.
