Religious leaders in US stress for interfaith dialogue

Two prominent religious leaders concluded that interfaith dialogue could bring lasting harmony and peace among the communities.Rajan Zed, well known Hindu leader, and Reverend Alexander Joseph Brunett, Catholic Archbishop of Seattle, met on February 22 in Archdiocese of Seattle, and agreed that more interfaith dialog was needed at both organization and individual level aiming at deriving at a common ground.

Seattle/Washington, Feb 23 : Two prominent religious leaders concluded that interfaith dialogue could bring lasting harmony and peace among the communities.Rajan Zed, well known Hindu leader, and Reverend Alexander Joseph Brunett, Catholic Archbishop of Seattle, met on February 22 in Archdiocese of Seattle, and agreed that more interfaith dialog was needed at both organization and individual level aiming at deriving at a common ground.

We should listen to each other from the dimensions of respect, love, and compassion, it was stressed.Brunett and Zed emphasized that peace being the goal; positive interaction between people of different faiths could strengthen bonds of friendship despite our seriously different philosophies.

With mutual understanding and trust, we should work on the common objectives of respect for others, love, human improvement, sharing, etc., they added.The Archdiocese of Seattle encompasses Western Washington State with 169 parishes and missions and serving 548, 900 Catholics. Hinduism is the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about two to three million practitioners in USA.Zed presented a copy of Bhagavad-Gita, ancient Hindu scripture, to Archbishop Brunett on the occasion.
