The Provincial Election Commissioner and Sindh Election Commission member Justice Ghulam Dastagir Shahani visited several polling booths in Karachi today to monitor the polling process.

Karachi/Islamabad, Feb 18 : The Provincial Election Commissioner and Sindh Election Commission member Justice Ghulam Dastagir Shahani visited several polling booths in Karachi today to monitor the polling process.

Meanwhile, sixteen teams of foreign observers also reviewed the situation at various polling booths here today.

In Islamabad, over 10,000 observers from Pakistan and abroad are monitoring the ongoing general elections.

According to The News, the foreign observers are from the United States, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Britain, Germany and France as well as from Japan, Bosnia, China, Nigeria, Belgium, India, Estonia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Some observers have come from Holland, Scotland, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Hungary.

A representative of International Foundation For Electoral System is here to monitor 1600 complaints of irregularities received by the Election Commission.

The Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Committee, Senator Joseph Biden, Senator John Kerry and Senator Chuck Hegel took part in an election briefing.

The US team will visit provinces to monitor the polling and counting process.

The team will release its report about the elections on Tuesday.
