Kuala Lumpur, Feb.18 : Eight Hindu Rights Action Force HINDRAF) supporters arrested for participating in an illegal athering in the city have been remanded until today.
The eight, including a woman, were among nine detained during the ally on Saturday. Another woman arrested was released yesterday.
The New Strait Times quoted city police chief Datuk Muhammad abtu Osman as saying that the eight could be charged with articipating in an illegal assembly.
Upon conviction, they can be jailed up to two years or asked to ay a maximum fine of RM10, 000, or both.
The demonstrators had planned to gather in front of Parliament ouse to hand over a memorandum concerning the Indian community, ut it was thwarted by the police.
