Di could have been killed by MI6

Diana, Princess of Wales could have been killed by British secret service MI6, the inquest into her death has heard.

London, Feb 14 : Diana, Princess of Wales could have been killed by British secret service MI6, the inquest into her death has heard.

Renegade spy Richard Tomlinson told the jury that agents could have used a strobe gun to blind her driver, Henri Paul while the car carrying her, Dodi Al Fayed and bodyguard Trevor Reeves raced into the Pont d'Alma tunnel in Paris.

Mr Tomlinson told the jury that he realised MI6 may be responsible for the Princess' death after he saw a documentary claiming that there had been a bright flash before Diana's car before it crashed.

He said that he recalled at the time an MI6 training session in which he was shown a portable strobe light intended temporarily to blind targets in vehicles.

It also brought back to his mind an MI6 document in 1992 detailing a plan to murder Serb leader Slobodan Milosevic, in this way, and that the two incidents had an "alarming and very eerie similarity".

Mr Tomlinson also suggested that Henri Paul was passing information to MI6, reports the Telegraph.

He told the inquest that while reading files on an operation to smuggle weapons out of the Soviet Union, he had come across details of an unnamed French security officer at the Ritz Hotel. He later concluded that this person was none other than Henri Paul.

"There is no doubt Henri Paul would have been of interest to the intelligence services," he said.

The inquest into Diana and Dodi's death continues.
