Corecess, a leading provider of Gigabit Ethernet Optical Network (G-EPON) systems for deployment of triple-play services in FTTx networks announced new contracts in Korea with both KT (Korea Telecom) and Hanaro Telecom and new wins in Asia and Europe. Corecess' OLT (Optical Line Termination) platforms for central offices and ONUs (Optical Network Units) for customer premises are based solely on Teknovus' G-EPON chips. Teknovus chips include the TK3714 for ONUs, the TK3721 for OLTs and most recently, the TK3723, known as the Turbo-EPON(TM) OLT.
Corecess began deployments at KT in 2005 and at Hanaro Telecom in 2006. Most recently, Corecess has won deployments in Poland, Indonesia and Spain. By year-end, Corecess will have more than 500,000 lines installed.
"Together with Teknovus, we are winning major deployments within our home country and around the world," said Jeremy Ha, CEO of Corecess. "We are a major vendor in the worldwide transition from copper-based, last-mile networks to fiber-based infrastructure, enabling service providers to lower OPEX while adding premium video services. Teknovus' Turbo-EPON(TM) provides us with a clear competitive edge, offering 2.5G EPON solutions to service providers supporting MDUs and enterprises, along with their well known traffic management and packet classification architecture. We look forward to being among the first to test Teknovus' 10G systems by mid-year."
"Teknovus is delighted that Corecess continues to win deployments at the two largest service providers in Korea and is winning business around the world," stated Greg Caltabiano, President & CEO of Teknovus. "Teknovus' EPON-based FTTx networks are spreading rapidly from Northeast Asia to Southeast Asia, India and Europe as service providers reach their ROI (return on investment) goals based on our proven carrier-grade EPON chips."
