CPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda has accused Nepal media of being very prejudiced towards him and is making a case for retaining the status quo for now in Nepal.

Kathmandu, Apr 7 : CPN (Maoist) Chairman Prachanda has accused Nepal media of being very prejudiced towards him and is making a case for retaining the status quo for now in Nepal.

Inaugurating a new radio station here, Parchanda claimed that the media plays a crucial role in transforming Nepal, but at the moment, it was not sincere in enhancing the peace process.

"The media sector should unite in order to make the Constituent Assembly election a success so as to establish a republican set up in Nepal," Nepal News quoted Prachanda, as saying.

"The state-owned media should be brought under the ownership of the people," he added.

The Ministry of Information and Communication, which controls the state-run media Radio Nepal, Nepal Television and the newspapers Gorkhapatra and the Rising Nepal, is currently headed by the Maoist party.
