Nepal Professional Golfers' Association (NPGA), along with, Surya Nepal Private Limited is proud to announce the formation of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2008. This is the first professional golf tour of Nepal with the aim of promoting Nepali professional golfing talent.

Surya Nepal, has always taken a lead role in Sports Tourism Promotion in the country under the aegis of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Surya Nepal Khelparyatan. They have been the sponsors of Nepal's most premier international professional golfing event, the "Surya Nepal Masters" for the last 14 years. This has helped in boosting Nepal's image as a favourite golfing and tourist destination, as well as helped in the growth of professional golfing talent in the country. In the last edition of the tournament in 2007, history was created when for the first time in a Surya Nepal Masters event, Nepali professionals won the top 3 slots, with Deepak Thapa Magar emerging as the winner. Surya Nepal also successfully hosted the 9th SAARC Golf Championship in October - November 2007 for the first time ever, thereby putting Nepal on top of the golfing map of the region.

As a part of Surya Nepal's continued commitment for development of Golf in Nepal, a new initiative is being taken from this year by launching the Surya Nepal Golf Tour. All professional golf events to be played in Nepal will now come under the umbrella of this Surya Nepal Golf Tour. As of now, 6 premier professional events have already signed up for the tour.

The Nepal Professional Golfers' Association envisions that with the arrival of the Golf Tour and more competitions, players will improve their game as well as more amateurs will take up pro-golf.

"Surya Nepal has been instrumental in promoting Golf & projecting Nepal as a important Golfing destination in the continent" said Mr. Pradeep K Shrestha, the President of the Nepal Golf Associations (NGA), "The introduction of Surya Nepal Golf Tour will help standard of Golf grow and hopefully we will see our professionals coming tops in the region."

"We are extremely happy to have the privilege of being the title sponsor of the first ever Golf Tour in Nepal." said Mr. Harsh Madhav Dar, Managing Director of Surya Nepal Private Limited. "Our sponsorship of this event is another step towards promoting Sports in Nepal and building professional golfing talent in the country".

On behalf of the Nepal Professional Golfers' Association, Ghana Shyam Thapa, President of NPGA said," The step Surya Nepal has taken will develop Golf in Nepal and soon we shall witness our pros making a mark in the international circuit."
