Addressing his party's gathering via telephone in the presence of PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at MQM headquarters Nine Zero last evening, Hussain said that the MQM had forgiven the PPP and vice versa, adding that both parties would now foil the conspiracies being hatched by their opponents.
He said that the country was passing through a critical stage and needs reconciliation more than ever before, the Daily Times quoted a GEO TV report as saying.
The MQM chief also said that on the occasion of the death anniversary of ZA Bhutto tomorrow, his party delegation would visit Garhi Khuda Bukhsh to pray at the graves of ZA Bhutto and slain PPP leader Benazir Bhutto.
Speaking at the meeting, Zardari said he had come to 90 to implement the promises 'written by Bhutto'.
Both the parties also agreed to set up an 8-member committee to sort out issues and that Zardari would meet Altaf Hussain in London soon.
Meanwhile, after the PPP, MQM truce, the Pakistan Muslim League-N, which has so far been against MQM joining the new government, said that although it had some reservations about the MQM, it would have no objection to the party joining the federal cabinet.
Senior PML-N leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi was quoted as saying that there was a need for continuing the process of national reconciliation and that there was no harm if political parties established contacts with each other.
About Zardari's visit to the MQM's head office, Hashmi said the PML-N had no objection to the PPP move for cooperation with the MQM, but it should be based on some principles. "We have nothing against (such) visits and contacts, but some principles have to be agreed first," he said.
"As a student of politics, I believe that walls should not be raised between political parties. All political parties must present themselves before the people for accountability. After all, every party has to be accountable to the people - whether it is linked to the Nine Zero, Zardari House or Model Town," he added.
