London, Apr.17 : Keen to rope in the support of American youth for her bid to become the next President of the United States, Democrat frontrunner Hillary Clinton, has decided to seek the assistance of her most trusted person - her daughter Chelsea - to woo the youth away from rival Barack Obama.
Twenty-eight-year-old Chelsea, has according to The Telegraph, taken leave from her New York-based hedge fund job to campaign relentlessly for her mother. ccording to the paper, Chelsea is being shielded by her parents' minders, but has so far held over 100 events at university campuses across the country.
Dressed in jeans and a fitted jacket, Chelsea appears confident, poised and, like her mother, a font of arcane policy detail. A more disciplined but less passionate campaigner than her father Bill, she gives almost identical answers at each stop.
She has talked about Hillary Clinton's stance on Israel and healthcare, and even answered the occasional question about the sexual scandals involving her father.
Despite the recent controversy over Mr Obama's remark that people in mid-western small towns "cling" to religion and guns because they are "bitter", Mrs Clinton is slipping further behind in national polls.
The polls in Pennsylvania, which votes on Tuesday, are too close for comfort. Defeat in the state would almost certainly doom her White House campaign while a narrow win might well be judged a de facto victory for Obama.
Record numbers of new, young voters give Obama some hope of an unlikely upset, even though Clinton spent part of her childhood in Scranton, Pennsylvania and the predominance of white, working class voters makes it ideal turf for her.
Although she is now the same age as when her father first ran for political office, Chelsea Clinton has declined to speak to any journalist.
The crowds she attracts are often no more than 200. Many of the students, however, remain unmoved. Everyone is pretty much for Obama, as they see him as a person and candidate who is laid back and someone who can be related to.
Hillary on the other hand is seen as too prim, proper and uptight.
