TV chef Jamie Oliver has emerged as the most iconic British chef of all time in a new poll.

London, April 14 : TV chef Jamie Oliver has emerged as the most iconic British chef of all time in a new poll.

The 32-year-old chef is followed by Delia Smith, 66, who ranked second in the poll.

Third on the list of most iconic British chefs was Gordon Ramsay, while Rick Stein came in fourth.

Wrapping up the top five was Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, who sparked a recent surge in sales of organic chickens when he launched a campaign against the battery variety.

Following him was 'Saturday Kitchen' star James Martin, who took sixth place, one ahead of Nigella Lawson.

Keith Floyd got the eighth position, while cookery writer Nigel Slater ninth.

Wrapping up the top 10 was Elizabeth David, who was credited with bringing French and Italian cooking and ingredients such as olive oil and the courgette into British homes before her death in 1992.

As many as 1,925 people participated in the poll for Olive magazine, reports the Scotsman.
