KaMin LLC announced today that it had begun implementing an energy surcharge on its paper kaolin products effective April 1, 2008, or as contracts permit. This surcharge is being applied to its slurry, dry and calcined kaolin products sold across the world.
"Our kaolin business has been under cost pressure for some time and we have taken proactive steps to increase our operating efficiencies that have offset many of these increases. Nevertheless, Kaolin processing continues to be energy intensive and the recent escalation of energy costs including natural gas and oil prices make it necessary to implement these surcharges," said Doug Carter, Business Director for Paper Kaolin, KaMin LLC.
