Malaysian Indian Congress to set up call centre, web portal

The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) is planning to set up a call centre and a web portal to help the Indian community living in the country.

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 11 : The Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) is planning to set up a call centre and a web portal to help the Indian community living in the country.

The centre, which will help the callers on issues like education, loans and welfare, will have its headquarters at Menara Manickavasagam.

MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said information on organisations like the Maju Institute of Education Development (MiED) and Yayasan Strategik Sosial (YSS) could be obtained through the portal.

"We will update the website with information on discussions that the MIC had with the government, what did the minister representing the Indian community say... everything will be up on the website," The New Straits Times online quoted Vellu, as saying.

Samy Vellu said that every branch would recruit at least 50 youth within three months.
