Dis ex-butler Paul Burrell branded liar by coroner

Princess Dianas ex-butler Paul Burrell has been branded a liar by the coroner overseeing the ongoing inquest into her death.

London, Apr 1 : Princess Diana's ex-butler Paul Burrell has been branded a liar by the coroner overseeing the ongoing inquest into her death.

During the summing-up of the six-month hearing, Lord Justice Scott Baker condemned the former flunkey.

Justice Scott Baker gave his verdict as he ruled there was not a shred of evidence to support the conspiracy theory that the Princess and her lover Dodi Fayed were killed by MI6 on the orders of Prince Philip.

He told the jury at London's High Court that they could not even consider the possibility that a murder was committed.

"One of the regrettable features of this case is the number of people who it appears have told lies in the witness box or elsewhere," The Sun quoted the coroner, as saying of Burrell.

The 49-year-old Burrell was exposed in February after he was secretly video taped in New York confessing to telling fibs under oath.

He said: "I didn't tell the whole truth. Perjury is not a nice thing to have to contemplate. I was very naughty and I made a couple of red herrings."

Justice Scott Baker asked Florida-based Burrell to return to Britain to explain himself.

However, Burrell has refused to come back.
