Diana death dossier mislaid by French officials

A French lawyer claims that the entire 6,000-page legal dossier on Princess Dianas death made by officials in his country went missing.

London, Sept 6 : A French lawyer claims that the entire 6,000-page legal dossier on Princess Diana's death made by officials in his country went 'missing'.

The dossier was compiled during the three-year police inquiry into Diana, her companion Dodi Al Fayed and their driver Henri Paul's death, by French investigating magistrate Judge Herve Stephan, and was kept at the Palais de Justice central court in Paris.

However, when Jean-Louis Pelletier, who represents Paris paparazzo Fabrice Chassery, asked to view the file, he was astonishingly told that had disappeared.

"I know files go missing from time to time. But bearing in mind the size and importance of this one, it is extraordinary," the Daily Mail quoted him, as saying.

And even though the file turned up a month later, the incident is sure to fuel conspiracy theories surrounding the late royal's death.

The inquest into Diana and Dodi's death is set to get underway on October 2 this year, with the jury visiting the crash scene days after the hearing opens.
