Six brides and a 97-year-old wedding dress!

New bride Charlotte Middleton looked gorgeous in her glittering wedding dress, even though it was sixth hand and was first walked down the aisle 97 years ago.

London, Sep 5 : New bride Charlotte Middleton looked gorgeous in her glittering wedding dress, even though it was "sixth hand" and was first walked down the aisle 97 years ago.

Charlotte, who married chartered accountant Mark Sisson on Sep 1, became the sixth bride in her family to wear the same wedding dress since 1910.

The chiffon, satin, silk and pearl gown made its debut in America at her great grandmother Pauline Fithian's wedding in 1910.

But the only way that tall Charlotte could get the gown to fit was to turn it into a two-piece.

"Mum gave me a choice whether to have a new dress or use the family one. We shook it out, had a look and I decided it was something I wanted to do," the Mirror quoted Charlotte, as saying.

The dress has been worn by Fithian in 1910, her daughter Ruth Watsonin 1935, and her daughter Jane Green in 1958.

Ruth's other daughter Sarah Green wore it to marry actor Geoffrey Palmer in 1963. It was then worn by Charlotte's mum Lucy, Ruth's niece, in 1975.

"All the brides have added their little touches to the dress. Jane, Sarah and myself all had a great discussion about the dress at the wedding. They both told Charlotte 'It looks much better on you!'" Lucy said.

"Any girl in the family is entitled to wear the Watson wedding dress," she added.
