A 19-year old student is facing trial after putting her feet up on a train seat for 10 seconds.
London, Sept 5 : A 19-year old student is facing trial after putting her feet up on a train seat "for 10 seconds".
Kathleen Jennings was travelling by Merseyrail, the only rail firm to prosecute people who put their feet on seats, when she made the mistake of putting her feet up.
A patrolling Merseyrail "enforcement officer" was promptly on the spot and charged her with "wilfully interfering with the comfort or convenience" of passengers, reports the Mirror.
Jennings now faces a fine when she appears before Chester magistrates.
The prospect of appearing in court however, has left her down in the dumps because it could leave her with a criminal record.
"I am not the sort of person who would do anything wrong. I don't want a criminal record," she said.
Among others who think that the whole episode is totally ridiculous is her dad Tony who said: "Why couldn't a fixed penalty notice be given? It's madness."
The crackdown on people putting their feet up on seats began in February this year. Since then around 250 people have been taken to court.
