Pakistan must withdraw from war on terror: NWFP CM

North West Frontier Province Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that Pakistan should withdraw from the global war on terror for the good of the people and the country.

Peshawar, Sept.5 : North West Frontier Province Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that Pakistan should withdraw from the global war on terror for "the good of the people and the country".

Durrani, who was interacting with a delegation of senators who called on him at Frontier House, said that the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) supported the Seventeenth Amendment to the Constitution in the larger national interest, and added that some people wanted to bring an eighteenth amendment to secure their "loot" deposited in foreign accounts and get rid of cases pending against them.

Describing the tribal people of Pakistan as "patriots", Durrani said their patriotism was evident from their participation in the wars of 1948, 1965 and 1971.

The tribals were aware that foreigners were behind the chaos and that these foreigners were also against Chinese engineers working in the province.

About minorities' rights in the province, he said the MMA government was serving them well.

The MMA's democratic approach was evident from the NWFP advocate general's stance in the Sharif brothers return case in the Supreme Court.
