At least 24 people were killed and several others injured in twin blasts in Rawalpindi on Tuesday morning.
Islamabad, Sep 4 : At least 24 people were killed and several others injured in twin blasts in Rawalpindi on Tuesday morning.
The first blast occurred in a bus in the Qasim Market area, killing 15 people and injuring more than 18 people among which six were reported to be in a critical state, sources said.
The second blast went off in R A market in which 7 people were killed and several others wounded.
Emergency has been announced in the hospitals of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, and security forces have cordoned off the affected areas, The News reported.
Interior Ministry has confirmed the killing of 15 people, but denied having any prior information regarding the blasts that rocked Rawalpindi.
According to Geo News, five teams have been instituted for probing the incident.
An Army Special Group has also been deputed to probe into the incidents of blasts and dispatched to the sites.
Following the blasts, security had beefed up in Lahore. CCPO Lahore directed the police officers to increase security at bus stands, railway stations and airport.
