Former Pakistan Prime MInister Benazir Bhuttos proposed deal with President General Pervez Musharraf will end up compromising her popularity with the people of Pakistan, claimed Liaqat Baloch , the president of the Punjab unit of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
Lahore, Sept.3 : Former Pakistan Prime MInister Benazir Bhutto's proposed deal with President General Pervez Musharraf will end up compromising her popularity with the people of Pakistan, claimed Liaqat Baloch , the president of the Punjab unit of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
"Benzair should join the opposition's struggle against the army dictatorship in the country," he told various delegations at Mansoora.
Baloch was quoted by the Daily Times as saying that the MMA would have no truck with either Musharraf in uniform or Musharraf without uniform.
Describing Musharraf as an unpopular and disputed personality in Pakistan, he said he should step down and transfer the government to Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro.
The new leader should call an All Parties Conference (APC) to decide the formation of an interim government. He said that an independent election commissioner was necessary for holding fair and transparent elections.
The MMA would devise a strategy along with lawyers for making the electoral college ineffective.
