Kathmandu, Sept 27 : Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has stepped up his parleys with leaders of the political parties with the aim of facilitating the Constituent Assembly polls in the wake of the Maoists exit from the Government.
Koirala met Maoist chairman Prachanda in an attempt to persuade him to rejoin the government.
The Maoists had quit the Government last week after their demand for declaring Nepal as a republic was declined by Koirala.
Besides this demand, Koirala and Prachanda discussed 21 other demands put forth by the Maoists.
According to some reports, a proposal to pass the commitment for republic through the interim parliament was also discussed.
The political parties have suggested that a commitment proposal passed by the parliament can be approval by the Constituent Assembly later on.
Meanwhile, Koirala is holding meetings with various political leaders, including the Maoists, to persuade the Maoists back in the Government.
A joint meeting of the seven parties is scheduled later today.
