Pakistans Interior Ministry today said that there are dangers of suicide attacks in the country on the eve of the presidential election, which is scheduled for October 6.

Islamabad, Sept 25 : Pakistan's Interior Ministry today said that there are dangers of suicide attacks in the country on the eve of the presidential election, which is scheduled for October 6.

Interior Ministry Spokesman Brigadier (Retired) Javed Iqbal Cheema said this at the weekly news conference here, adding that the recent arrests were made to maintain law and order situation in the country.

The News quoted him as saying that the most important case is under hearing in the Supreme Court and the sensitive issues like presidential election are being faced. On this occasion, there were reports that leaders of some parties can create a law and order situation.

Thus, they were taken into safe custody whereas more than 100 workers from Punjab and the federal capital have so far been arrested, he added.

Reacting to the criticism by the US and European Union on the arrests of political leaders, Cheema said that Pakistan knows better itself that what steps it should take for maintaining law and order.
