Woman gambler scoops £226k in football bet

A woman, who placed bets on eight soccer matches, has scooped a booty of 226,834.36 pounds in the stake with William Hill on Champions League games.

London, Sept 23 : A woman, who placed bets on eight soccer matches, has scooped a booty of 226,834.36 pounds in the stake with William Hill on Champions League games.

Katherine Rotmann placed the 1,000 pounds roll-up bet on matches played by Arsenal, Manchester United, Rangers, Slavia Prague, Barcelona, Roma, Fenerbahce and PSV.

All the eight teams won the matches with combined odds of 226-1.

However, this is not the first time the German born has won soccer bets.

"I am delighted. I only ever bet on football - last year I won £35,000 with one bet," the Sun quoted Rotmann as saying.

"I just keep a track of those teams which are playing well and bet on them. It was very exciting when the results went my way," she said.

Hill's Graham Sharpe said that the huge sum was one of the biggest bets won by a woman gambler.

"This is one of the biggest wins we've paid out on European soccer. And it's one of the biggest amounts ever won by a woman gambler," Sharpe said.
