Major headway in Benazir-Govt dialogue soon: Mushahid

The dialogue with former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is going on positively and major headway was expected soon, said PML-Q Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Sayed.

Islamabad, Sep 23 : The dialogue with former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is going on positively and major headway was expected soon, said PML-Q Secretary-General Mushahid Hussain Sayed.

Mushahid said that no timeframe could be given on the success of talks with Bhutto.

He said general election would follow the presidential election under the supervision of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), not President Pervez Musharraf.

Mushahid said that the government had accepted the Supreme Court (SC) decision of reinstatement of Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and now the opposition should react rationally if the court issued a decision against their wishes in the two-office case.

"The opposition should avoid politics of confrontation and double standards on the issue of presidential election," the Daily Times quoted Mushahid, as saying.

He said the government would accept the SC decision, and expected that others would also follow the same path.

Sajjad Haider of Nawa-e-Waqt took oath as the president and Shabbir Hussain of Daily Times as the general secretary of the association.
