The US State Department has issued travel warning to its citizens about security concerns in Pakistan.
Lahore, Sep 22 : The US State Department has issued travel warning to its citizens about security concerns in Pakistan.
A statement has warned the citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Pakistan.
The presence of the Taliban and al Qaeda in Pakistan poses "a potential danger to American citizens," the advisory claimed.
It notes that terrorists have demonstrated their willingness and capability to attack targets where Americans are known to congregate or visit, such as hotels, clubs and restaurants, places of worship, schools, or outdoor recreation events.
The travel warning asked US citizens travelling to Pakistan to register with the Embassy in Islamabad or the Consulates in Karachi, Lahore, or Peshawar, or online at http://travelregistration.state.gov to obtain updated information on terrorism in Pakistan.
It also cautioned Americans currently in Pakistan to maintain a good situational awareness, avoid crowds and demonstrations and keep a low profile.
