Pakistans Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that President Pervez Musharrafs decision to quit as Army Chief after his re-election is not the result of a dialogue with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Islamabad, Sep 19 : Pakistan's Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that President Pervez Musharraf's decision to quit as Army Chief after his re-election is not the result of a dialogue with the Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP).
"Terming Musharraf's decision to quit as Army Chief as a result of dialogue with the PPP is not appropriate," Rashid told CNBC, adding that discussions between the two have been going along for long.
Rashid said that Musharraf has been repeatedly saying that he would doff his uniform at an appropriate time.
The Constitution allows the President to keep both offices till November 15, he added.
Musharraf's decision to doff his uniform would facilitate the holding of a smooth general election, the Daily Times quoted Rashid, as saying.
