If a move to disqualify President General Pervez Musharraf from participating in the forthcoming presidential elections is made, it might spark anarchy in the country, as the Supreme Court (SC) is likely to ask him to doff his uniform before the election, Pakistan Muslim League Senator SM Zafar has warned.
Islamabad, Sep 19 : If a move to disqualify President General Pervez Musharraf from participating in the forthcoming presidential elections is made, it might spark anarchy in the country, as the Supreme Court (SC) is likely to ask him to doff his uniform before the election, Pakistan Muslim League Senator SM Zafar has warned.
The apex court might declare the Election Commission's amendments to the Presidential Election Rules 1988 as null and void, but it would not be an easy decision, Zafar said.
Commenting on the reports that the Musharraf regime may impose martial law, Zafar told the Daily Times that imposition of martial law is "not conceivable" in the current political scenario.
