Pakistans Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that President Pervez Musharraf might face Constitutional problems in his re-election by the current assemblies if no deal is reached between him and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Islamabad, Sep 14 : Pakistan's Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that President Pervez Musharraf might face Constitutional problems in his re-election by the current assemblies if no deal is reached between him and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Rashid said it would become difficult for Musharraf to get re-elected by the present assemblies or pass any Constitutional amendment if a deal is not reached with Benazir.
"The Pakistan Government will have to show flexibility. Uniform is not an issue, but the demand for a third-time premiership is a major deadlock in the negotiations," Rashid said.
Musharraf had made up his mind to doff his uniform, the Daily Times quoted Rashid, as saying.
The Pakistan People's Party -Parliamentarian and the government would have to adopt a middle way for the re-election of the President, Ahmed said, adding that negotiations would also be held later with the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
