Musharraf is still strong: Time magazine

Pakistan President Pervez Musharrafs tenure may be drawing to a close, but he is still quite strong, the Time magazine has claimed.

Washington, Sep 11 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's tenure may be drawing to a close, but he is still quite strong, the Time magazine has claimed.

Commenting on former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's deportation, Supreme Court Advocate Ifitkhar Gilani said, "This is not just defiance of the Supreme Court, but defiance of the Constitution itself. It is negative in every way. I'd like to know what they [the government] think they gained."

"This is a shame, a stain, a disgrace. It shows the weakness of the government. Every action that Musharraf is taking is making things more difficult for him," the Daily Times quoted General (retd.) Talat Masood, as saying.

Tehmina Daultana, vice president Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, jumped out of her land cruiser and charged the police, shouting, "Do or die, we will go to the airport," the magazine reported.

"As PML-N leaders swarmed out of their cars to shout slogans they were picked up one by one by apologetic police officers who politely allowed them to finish their impromptu press conferences first," the magazine further reported.

"We were ordered to arrest all the party leaders," admitted one police officer after he helped shove the party's information secretary Ahsan Iqbal roughly into a truck.
