Expressing his concern over the detention of former Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif in Saudi Arabia, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) President and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad has termed it as disrespect to the holy land.
Lahore, Sep 11 : Expressing his concern over the detention of former Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif in Saudi Arabia, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) President and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad has termed it as "disrespect to the holy land".
Depriving a citizen of his rights is unconstitutional; the Daily Times quoted Qazi, as saying.
"The government should not stop the movement for the supremacy of the Constitution and setting up a democratic government," he said in a statement issued from Mansoora.
Terming Sharif's deportation as pre-poll rigging, the Qazi said that transparent elections were not possible with President Pervez Musharraf in power.
He further said that the 160 million people were the real source of politicians' power, not the Supreme Court and the people would continue their struggle for democracy.
He said the "judiciary's independence had become a question mark".
