Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief and former cricketer Imran Khan has said that politicians should learn from the past and avoid any deal with a military dictator, as it would only benefit President Pervez Musharraf.
Lahore, Sep 1 : Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief and former cricketer Imran Khan has said that politicians should learn from the past and avoid any deal with a military dictator, as it would only benefit President Pervez Musharraf.
Khan said the deal between Musharraf and former premier Benazir Bhutto would have long-term implications on national politics.
Bhutto should avoid it as there would be a complete darkness at the end of tunnel, he added.
Addressing a seminar titled 'Liabilities of Politicians'; Khan said striking a deal on the pretext of giving safe passage to a despot President at the time, when he is politically at the lowest ebb, was tantamount to compromising democracy.
He said that Musharraf was engineering a deal with Benazir for his re-election as President, and in return Bhutto has been a withdrawal of all cases against her.
Bhutto's deal, Imran said, would create a split in her party.
Khan predicted a new political set up in Pakistan.
