Al Fayed wants US Secret Service to hand over Diana files to prove conspiracy

Harrods boss Mohammed Al Fayed is to ask American secret service to pass their files to the jury that is probing into the death of Princess Diana and his son Dodi Al Fayed, in a bid to prove that the princess death was a result of an Establishment conspiracy.

London, Oct 8 : Harrods boss Mohammed Al Fayed is to ask American secret service to pass their files to the jury that is probing into the death of Princess Diana and his son Dodi Al Fayed, in a bid to prove that the princess' death was a result of an Establishment conspiracy.

The Egyptian businessman has maintained that the British security services played a role in the high-speed crash that killed the royal, his son, and driver Henri Paul.

In 1999, Al Fayed had proved that America's National Security Agency has 1,934 pages intelligence on the late princess. However, he has not been successful in getting them handed over to the jury headed by coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker.

"I can see no reason why these documents should not be made available to the coroner,' the Daily Mail quoted Harrods head of security John McNamara, as saying.

"For the sake of transparency - and to determine whether they are germane to the inquest - the coroner should ask to see the files.

"And if they are to be made available, they should be made available to all interested parties," he said

Today the team investigating the case will visit the scene of the Princess of Wales' death in Paris.

The inquest team will visit the Ritz hotel where the fateful evening began, the Pont d'Alma tunnel where her Mercedes crashed, and the Pitie Salpetriere Hospital where she was declared dead on August 31, 1997.
