The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will conduct the presidential election on Saturday and declare its result the same evening.

Islamabad, Oct 5 : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will conduct the presidential election on Saturday and declare its result the same evening.

The returning officer will also issue a certificate to the winning candidate the same day, The News reported.

"The ECP has provided ballot papers for the presidential election to the Chief Justices of the High Courts in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar," an official said.

The returning officer for the presidential election, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retired) Farooq Qazi has appointed the Chief Justices of the High Courts as presiding officers.

The ballot papers printed in Urdu on white paper bear the names of candidates in alphabetical order.

Musharraf's name tops the list, followed by Faryal Talpur, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Mohammadmian Soomro and Wajihuddin Ahmed.

An official said polling would be held at Parliament House in Islamabad and in the assembly halls in Karachi, Quetta, Lahore and Peshawar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Each member of the National Assembly, Senate and Balochistan Assembly would have one vote, while the number of votes in the Punjab, Sindh and NWFP assemblies would be calculated in accordance with the formula given in the Presidential Election Rules 2007.
