Islamabad, Oct 4 : Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said Pakistan would continue to modernise its army, navy and air force to fully protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
He made this statement while talking to Sheikh Muhammad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Commander of the Bahrain National Guard.
Pakistan believes in self-reliance and it has made progress in enhancing indigenous capabilities in the areas of defence and security., the Daily Times quoted Aziz, as saying.
Aziz went on to say that Pakistan's role as an anchor of peace and stability in the region was embedded in its economic sovereignty, strong defence, smooth political process, internal stability, good governance and friendly international environment.
"Peace is achieved through strength and our defence policy is based on having minimum credible deterrence both in conventional and strategic areas," he said.
