Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has denied the involvement of the US in the political negotiations currently undergoing between President Pervez Musharraf and other political leaders in the country.
Karachi, Oct 29 : Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has denied the involvement of the US in the political negotiations currently undergoing between President Pervez Musharraf and other political leaders in the country.
Dismissing the impression that Pakistani politicians were dependent upon American backing to secure their political future, Aziz said that the people of the country would decide the political future of the country and choose its leaders.
Aziz said that the government could also initiate a dialogue with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), as part of its ongoing national and political reconciliation programme, the Daily Times reported.
Stating that the National Reconciliation Ordinance, was meant to develop national and political reconciliation in the country, he said that the government could also initiate a dialogue with the leadership of PML-N, Nawaz Sharif, since he is the leader of his party, which is a political one.
He said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had also agreed to contest the general elections from an allied platform.
