Kabul denies its involvement in fuelling violence in Swat

Afghanistan has refuted allegations of Kabuls role in fuelling violence in Pakistans Waziristan province and Swat areas, where clashes between Pakistani troops and Taliban militants have left scores of casualties on both sides.

Islamabad, Oct 29 : Afghanistan has refuted allegations of Kabul's role in fuelling violence in Pakistan's Waziristan province and Swat areas, where clashes between Pakistani troops and Taliban militants have left scores of casualties on both sides.

Denying those allegations levelled against it by some sections of Pakistan's political leaders, President Hamid Karzai's spokesman Humayun Hamidzada said, "We will not allow anyone to use our soil against Pakistan."

"Using terrorism as a foreign policy tool will serve nobody's interests; such a practice is bound to backfire," the Daily Times quoted Hamidzada, as saying.

On Saturday, caretaker Chief Minister of NWFP had hinted at Afghanistan's involvement in the upsurge of violence in the region.

Hamidzada said that terrorists and fundamentalists posed a common threat to the two neighbouring countries.
