85 APDM parliamentarians submit their resignations to Pak Assembly Speaker

Pakistans National Assembly members of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) have submitted their resignations to Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain.

Islamabad, Oct 2 : Pakistan's National Assembly members of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) have submitted their resignations to Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain.

Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former cricketer Imran Khan was the first parliamentarian who tendered his resignation, following which other APDM leaders followed suit.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, submitted the resignations of MMA parliamentarians to the Speaker, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Javed Hashmi presented resignations of the parliamentarians of his party.

A total of 85 opposition members tendered their resignations including 62 of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, 20 of PML-N and a member each from PTI, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and JUI Fazl-e-Karim.

Earlier, APDM members reached the Parliament House in a procession to submit their resignations. All APDM parliamentarians reached the Parliament House from the Parliament Lodges, The News reported.

Large number of workers of Jamat Islami, JUI-F, PTI and PML-N carrying party flags also participated in the procession.

Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly members of the APDM will be submitting their resignations today amid stringent security measures in Lahore.

The administration has beefed up security in the provincial capital to maintain law and order and avoid any untoward incident during the APDM rally.

Heavy contingents of police have been deployed at Lahore Press Club, Punjab Assembly, Governor House and various points of the Mall.
