In the wake of top Indian diplomat Shyam Sarans visit to Kathmandu, Chinese envoy to Nepal Xing Xia Ling today met Nepalese Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and held discussions on the current political deadlock.
Kathmandu, Oct 13 : In the wake of top Indian diplomat Shyam Saran's visit to Kathmandu, Chinese envoy to Nepal Xing Xia Ling today met Nepalese Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and held discussions on the current political deadlock.
China has increased its role of late evidently in the Himalayan nation.
They both deliberated on how China could help in ending the stalemate.
Meanwhile, Ian Martin, the chief of the United Nations mission in Nepal, met Koirala on Saturday.
Martin will fly to New York on Sunday to present the report of the latest political developments in Nepal.
Martin expressed concern over the delay in effective implementation of the peace agreements.
He also drew attention of Koirala over the repeated violation of agreements by the Maoist army, government's indifference towards improving the conditions in cantonment, continued human rights violations and lack of government commitment to punish the human rights violators.
In response, Koirala said that the government was committed to implement the agreements reached earlier and expressed hope that the current political deadlock would end soon.
