The fans of cartoon character Winnie-the-Pooh have hit the streets demanding reopening of the footpath leading to the bridge where the bear played pooh sticks.
London, Oct 1 : The fans of cartoon character Winnie-the-Pooh have hit the streets demanding reopening of the footpath leading to the bridge where the bear played "pooh sticks".
The fans, along with members of The Ramblers' Association, launched the campaign after Faircote Stud Farm built an equestrian sand school across the path to the bridge, making it almost impossible to use, the Times Online reported.
The bridge, near Hartfield in East Sussex, in the heart of the Ashdown Forest, was made famous by author A. A. Milne when he created the character of Winnie-the-Pooh, inspired by the soft toys belonging to his son, Christopher Robin.
The character appeared in the books Winnie-the-Pooh (1926) and The House at Pooh Corner (1928). Milne also included several poems about Winnie-the-Pooh in children's poetry books.
