Islamabad, Nov.5 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's vow to step down as army chief and become a civilian leader is now "in limbo" following the declaration of a state of emergency, a minister said on Monday.

Deputy Information Minister Tariq Azeem was quoted by a French news agency as saying that the "President Musharraf gave an undertaking to the Supreme Court that he would take off his uniform before taking the oath but now because of the imposition of emergency, the issue is left in limbo."
