Sharif labels Musharraf as a terrorist

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif termed the imposition of emergency in his country as unfortunate and labelled President Pervez Musharraf as a terrorist.

Dubai, Nov 3 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif termed the imposition of emergency in his country as 'unfortunate' and labelled President Pervez Musharraf as a 'terrorist'.

"Imposing emergency is another form of terrorism," Sharif said.

Urging the people to come out on the streets to protest against the emergency, Sharif wished he could return to Pakistan soon.

Sharif, who returned to Islamabad on September 10, was first arrested and then forcibly sent back to Jeddah by President Musharraf's regime.

Musharraf had overthrown Sharif in a bloodless coup in October 1999 and charged him with hijacking and terrorism charges.

In April 2000, Sharif was sentenced to life imprisonment on the same charges, but eight months later he goes for exile in Saudi Arabia after receiving pardon from the military authorities.

In recent years, he became politically active and shifted his base to London from where he returned to Islamabad, two months ago.

Sharif is presently in Jeddah.
