Oman has lifted the import ban on poultry and poultry products from India, according to a statement from the Indian Embassy in Muscat.
Muscat, Nov.21 : Oman has lifted the import ban on poultry and poultry products from India, according to a statement from the Indian Embassy in Muscat.
According to the Gulf News, Oman's decision follows a statement from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) that India is free from bird flu.
The decision was conveyed to Anil Wadhwa, Indian Ambassador to Oman, when he called on Oman's Agriculture Minister, Shaikh Salim bin Hilal al Khalili, on Monday.
The OIE declared India free from bird flu following government efforts to stamp out the last outbreak in July 2007 in a poultry farm in a north eastern Indian village.
All fowls in the area were culled, including those within five kilometres of the affected zone. This was followed by clean-up, disinfection and post-operation surveillance.
