At least one person has died in a bomb explosion on a railway track on Sunday near Peshawar that was targeted at a passenger train.
Islamabad, Nov 18 : At least one person has died in a bomb explosion on a railway track on Sunday near Peshawar that was targeted at a passenger train.
The remote controlled device carrying about four kilograms of explosives went off as the express train from Karachi was heading towards Peshawar.
It destroyed one carriage of the train, but the death toll was low because all the passengers in that coach had disembarked at a previous station.
"Only one railway employee who was sitting in the coach was killed," The News quoted police officer Naeem Khan, as saying.
No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
The latest incident of bomb explosion comes in the wake of sectarian violence in the region, and the rising conflict between security forces and militants in the Swat Valley.
