The Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted a full court for the hearing of constitutional petitions filed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other persons. The hearings will begin from May 14 on a daily basis, the apex court said.
Islamabad, May 8 : The Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted a full court for the hearing of constitutional petitions filed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other persons. The hearings will begin from May 14 on a daily basis, the apex court said.
In the light of the decision of the larger Bench headed by Justice M. Javed Battar, Acting Chief Justice Rana Bhagwas Das constituted the full court headed by the 5th senior most Justice in the Supreme Court Justice Khalil-ur- Rahman Ramday.
Besides Justice Khalil-ur-Rahman Ramday, the full court likely to comprise of Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, Justice Falak Sher, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice M. Javed Battar, Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani, Justice Syed Saeed Ashad, Justice Nasirul Mulk, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmad, Justice Chaudhry Aijaz Ahmad, Justice Syed Jamshed Ali, Justice Hamid Ali Mirza and Justice Ghulam Jilani.
Acting Chief Justice Rana Bhagwan Das, Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar being the members of Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) and Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan, who earlier had declined to hear the petitions, were not included in the full court.
It may be recalled that the larger Bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice M. Javed Battar, after hearing the petitions praying for the suspension of the ongoing presidential reference proceedings against Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry until final decision taken on the constitutional petitions, had yesterday stayed the proceedings of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
ANI
